              We Empower You founders are huge supporters of unbiased research and close examinations of issues regarding the criminal justice system.  While most remain unaware, the criminal justice system in the United States operates quite differently than in most progressive countries.   According to the California Prison Focus, “no other society in human history has imprisoned so many of its own citizens.”  The reality of this statement lies in the numbers.  While the United States holds 25% of the world’s prison population, it only houses 5% of the entire world’s people.  Statistics like this shed light on the pitfalls of the prison industrial complex and their consistent inability to avoid exploiting non-violent offenders who have committed minor offenses.  By educating ex-cons about their rights, empowering them to take on entrepreneurial leadership roles and by educating the public, Voice Impacting America hopes to help create a more useful criminal justice system.
